> Early morning hunts for white-tailed deer usually bring the best results. Deer are on the move with lots of hunters in the field.
> Deer stands work. Many deer, especially bucks, are seen and taken from stands.
> Find white-tailed deer, especially big bucks, in areas of least cover such as small grassy areas or hedge rows with lots of open space in all directions. White-tailed deer are also often found in fields of standing corn or other crops.
> If hunting in parties, a group of five (5) hunters works best.
> Dress properly. Cold feet and hands do not make a happy or successful hunter. By dressing in layers of clothing, garments can be easily shed as the day warms or hunting methods change.
> Hunt in areas with good deer populations. Past hunting success in an area and state wildlife agency records should be considered before heading into the field. Often the season or time available for hunting is short, so don't waste time in non-productive areas.
> Take a couple of candy bars along. Trudging over the hills and through the woods makes most hunter very hungry.
> Always go hunting with another person. But if alone, be sure to tell someone where you're going and when you'll return.
> Take a little time, a few days before the hunting season starts, to review the laws and hunting rules in the area you're planning to hunt.
> Always seek permission of the landowner when entering private property to hunt.
> And get St. Hubert of Liege's blessing before your go!
